Gary Neville accuses Man Utd board of 'losing control' with Jose Mourinho decision. Gary Neville has accused the Manchester United board of 'naivety' and reckons they have 'lost control' by handing Jose Mourinho a new contract.
Mourinho's men were thumped by Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool on Sunday as Sadio Mane and Xherdan Shaqiri put the Red Devils to the sword.
Neville was asked for his thoughts on Manchester United's rapid decline this season, and hit out at some of the decisions made by the club's top brass.
"The board are so naive, giving him [Mourinho] a new contract," Neville told Sky Sports. "Manchester United need to reset. It's not just the manager, it's deeper than that.
"They lost control of the football club when they gave him a contract extension 18 months in."
Neville also had plenty to say about the performances of the United players, pointing out that Liverpool are miles better than his former side.
"Liverpool are streets ahead. Streets. Not one of the United midfielders can pass a football. Not one of them.
"I find it staggering. United were awful. They were hanging in there for a bit but the only real team who were going to win the game was Liverpool. It's not good enough."
