Arsenal transfer news: James Rodriguez latest as Roma make Mohamed Elneny approach. Bayern Munich's sporting director has put a dent in Arsenal's hopes of signing Real Madrid forward James Rodriguez this January.
The Gunners are reportedly keen on landing the Colombian, who is currently three quarters of the way through a two-year loan spell at Bayern from Real.
Rodriguez is struggling for first team football in Germany, and Arsenal were looking into the possibility of signing the 27-year-old on loan until the end of the season.
The deal would set the Gunners back around £3million, but Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic suggested the Bundesliga giants want to keep hold of the player until the end of the season.
Arsenal are hopeful of finally doing a deal for Denis Suarez after holding further talks with Barcelona of a transfer for the Spaniard.
Arsenal are hoping to loan Suarez until the end of the season, at which point they will decided whether to make the switch permanent for a fee of around £18million.
Mirror Football understands Unai Emery is particularly keen to get the deal over the line.
Roma are keen on landing out of favour Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny, according to Italian publication Tuttomercatoweb.
The Egyptian has struggled for game time under Emery this season, and was recently advised to leave the Gunners for a new challenge by a coach of his former side El Mokawloon.
Roma are reportedly ready to hand Elneny an olive branch.
